What is the International Baccalaureate Program?

The program provides structures, lesson planning tools and resources for teachers to create authentic, relevant learning environments and experiences that are focused on research-based best practice and adult learning. IB schools adopt a holistic educational approach focused on inquiry, student agency, global context and collaboration.

What is the DP?

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) is an assessed programme for students aged 16 to 19. It is respected by leading universities across the globe and is offered at Summit High School. View the course catalog

What the DP offers students

Through the DP, schools are able to develop students who:

  • have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge
  • flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically
  • study at least two languages
  • excel in traditional academic subjects
  • explore the nature of knowledge through the programme’s unique theory of knowledge course.

The SEL wheel connects the SSD graduate profile and CASEL framework of skills in order to provide a common understanding of Social Emotional language and skills throughout a student's experience in Summit School District.
