Celebrating CMAS Gains and Building Toward an Excellent Year Ahead

As we begin the 25–26 school year, we celebrate both a fresh start and the results of our collective efforts, reflected in the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS)

SSD students made gains, with math leading the way. District-wide growth outpaced the state by 10 pointsmoving Summit students from the 49th percentile to the 60th percentile. A percentile ranking shows how our students compare to peers statewide—for example, the 60th percentile means Summit students performed better than 60% of Colorado students.)

English Language Arts (ELA) also advanced, with proficiency rising from 39.7% to 42.6%, and growth improving from the 47th percentile to the 51st percentile. These results show that Summit students are not just catching up—they are moving ahead, fueled by rigorous instruction, aligned goals, and the vision in our Strategic Plan..

Highlights

Frisco El – Math growth improved from the 61st to nearly the 70th percentile; ELA growth reached the 81st percentile. ELA proficiency rose by 11 points (43.2% to 54.2%).

Silverthorne El – Math growth advanced from the 50th to the 58th percentile.

Summit Cove El – Math growth rose from the 42nd to 67th percentile, with proficiency up nearly 12 points (38.1% to 50.0%). ELA proficiency also grew by 10 points.

Upper Blue El – Math growth climbed from the 66th to the 70.5th percentile.

Breckenridge El – Led the district in ELA proficiency at 63.0%, up from 54.7%.

Summit Middle School – Math growth rose from the 46th to the 60th percentile, with proficiency up 10 points (22.7% to 32.4%).

Snowy Peaks High School – More than doubled math proficiency (11.1% to 23.8%). ELA proficiency on the PSAT/SAT improved from 50% to 62.5%.

Summit High School – Math growth increased by 5 percentile points.

Every school showed meaningful progress, with elementary and middle school math standing out as a highlight. Growth among Multilingual Learners (MLL) and special education students (SPED) affirms that inclusive practices are making a difference.

The gains we see today result from this alignment. Our work is not just about test scores—it’s about equipping students with confidence, curiosity, and skills to thrive.

 

Where We See Opportunities

 

While elementary and middle school results shine, we see opportunity at the high school level. Combined PSAT/SAT ELA growth ranked at the 44th percentile, meaning Summit students outpaced 44% of students statewide, showing opportunity in ELA and math. We must do more to support Hispanic, MLL, SPED students. These gaps remind us of our responsibility to ensure excellence for every learner.

 

By building on elementary and middle school successes, we will ensure every Summit graduate is ready for college, career, and life.

As families review assessment results, we encourage continued collaboration between home and school. Together, we will:
